Where healing and equitable access to justice unite

We hold space for courageous conversations and remove barriers to justice-related support

This means making room to explore life’s tender, complex, and often stigmatized experiences in the Black community and beyond

What We Know

Let's Break Cycles of Shame and Silence

Access to equitable justice and wellness supports shouldn’t depend on who you are or what you know.  Too often our experiences are met with stigma, inequity, shame, and silence – patterns that echo through generations, shaping how we see ourselves and each other.

We know that a justice system that ignores wellbeing can retraumatize, and that health and wellness spaces that ignore systemic barriers can overlook the root causes of harm. But when integrated, fair justice and wellness create the conditions for people not only to resolve issues but to heal, rebuild confidence, and move forward with stability and dignity.

A Team Unites is a natural extension of A Team Coaching, which is going into its 4th year of operation as a family-owned and operated business that helps partners and organizations transform cultures, mindsets, and systems. The legacy of this work is bigger than turning a profit. It is a legacy that honours the commitment and sacrifices past generations have made so we can all have a better life today. That is why A Team Unites exists to formalize and expand our community-led activities and bridge wellness and fair justice supports so that our offerings can reflect real-life experiences, remain culturally grounded, and be designed for lasting impact.

Our Approach

We are focused on ensuring safe and transparent access to the resources and peer support we all need to expand our knowledge in areas that matter to our overall health and wellbeing – topics that are often bypassed in mainstream offerings. At A Team Unites, this looks like community-led conversations in the places we call home, fair access to justice supports, culturally-responsive mentorship programs and partnered initiatives to encourage collective knowledge and resource sharing, making culturally-informed access to professional support possible, and advocacy for our needs in healthcare systems and beyond.

What We Can Do Together

Equitable and Empowering Justice Support

We provide the legal guidance that ensures you are not alone in pursuing your rights. Whether it’s navigating a justice system that doesn’t always see or understand you, advocating for your needs, accessing the right service, or filing applications, we’ll help get you started on the right path. Our work is about protecting your dignity with a solution tailored to your unique situation.

Healing Conversations

We create culturally-informed circles of trust where our safety and wellbeing is prioritized and we benefit from each-others’ wisdom and experiences.

Job Readiness Support

We partner with you to deliver interactive and culturally-informed employment support for young people experiencing intersecting forms of discrimination.

What Makes Us Unique

We are proud to be adaptable

We don’t limit how we show up. We adapt based on changing community needs and are not dependent on the shifting priorities of large institutional systems.

This is about community helping community. We see ourselves as a convener of peer support that strengthens our collective ability to care for one another and address challenges together.

We stay guided by the lived realities and voices of our community. Our strength comes from listening deeply, remaining flexible, and acting collectively.

Black Girls Pillow Talk

Creating Safe Spaces & Sisterhood. Black Girls Pillow Talk, led by Angelina Simmonds of North Preston, empowers and inspires Black girls and women to love the skin they’re in and challenge the status quo. Our initiatives are designed to create nurturing and encouraging spaces for young Black girls to share their lived experiences, uplift one another, prompt the healing of intergenerational trauma, experience joy, and thrive together. In a world of individualism and siloed resources, we blend self-care with community care to ensure every girl feels supported, seen, and strengthened by her community. No one has to figure out life alone. Follow along on Instagram for upcoming events!
